Replacing the Feeder Motor of a V2 machine

This article guides you on how to replace the feeder motor of a V2 machine. A feeder motor replacement might be required if you are facing any one of the following issues:

  1. When you press the feed button, the feed LED turns on but the carousel does not move.
  2. When you press the feed button, the feed LED turns on and you can hear the motor move but the carousel stays still.
  3. The carousel turns with 10 or fewer balls in the hopper but does not move when more balls are added on top of it.
  4. If you try to move the carousel with your hand, it moves freely and offers no resistance.

Note: Before deciding to replace the feeder motor, if you are experiencing the issue of no movement and no sound from the motor we recommend checking the connections on the back of the control panel first making sure that the green feeder motor plug is properly connected to the motherboard. More information here.

Step 1: Removing the Purple body

Follow the steps here to remove the control panel and the purple body.

Step 2: Replacing the feeder motor

Here is a helpful video showing you step by step how to replace the motor once you have the purple body off. If you prefer text instructions, these can be found below the video.

  1. Remove the two silver wires located on top of the carousel by pressing them in the middle and pulling one end out at a time. Some rotation of the carousel might be required.
  2. Remove the carousel from the machine by simply lifting it upwards.
  3. Stand the machine body vertically upright so you are able to see the feeder motor and curtain attached inside. They are located underneath the carousel area.
  4. Locate the curtain that needs to be removed first in order to remove the motor. It is a large black/grey fin shaped plastic component attached to the carousel area base.
  5. Remove the outer four screws holding the curtain from the base of the area where the carousel sits.
  6. Once the screws are off, you will be able to remove the curtain from the inside of the machine.
  7. Remove the remaining four screws from the same area to remove the motor.
Note: The screws for the curtain and motor are different so you might have to keep them separately for proper re-installation.
  8. Place the new motor in position and put the screws back.
  9. Place the curtain back and put in the respective screws for it. Avoid over-tightening these screws.
  10. Place the carousel back by locating the flat section in the carousel hole and aligning it with the flat section on the silver motor shaft on which the carousel sits.
  11. Re-install the two silver wires back on top of the carousel area.  Some rotation of the carousel might be required.

Step 3: Reinstalling the purple body
