Over time, the throwing wheels in your ball machine may deteriorate due to age and exposure to sunlight (UV). The wheels have a solid inner core with a softer polyurethane (PU) outer layer. As the PU ages, it can become dry and brittle.
If this occurs, the outer layer may crack, split, or break apart when the wheels spin at high speed. In some cases, small pieces of the PU layer may detach from the wheel.
If you notice cracking, missing chunks, or pieces of material coming off the wheel, stop using the machine and replace the throwing wheels.
We recommend replacing both wheels at the same time, even if only one appears damaged. Using two new wheels ensures consistent ball speed, spin, and overall machine performance.
You can replace the throwing wheels by following the steps in this article.
Example of a deteriorated throwing wheel

This photo shows a throwing wheel where the polyurethane (PU) outer layer has become brittle and broken apart, exposing the inner core. If your wheel shows similar cracking, missing chunks, or separation of the outer layer, the wheels should be replaced before using the machine again.
