The Spinfire app utilizes your device’s built-in voice dictation feature from the keyboard to convert speech to text. This is particularly useful when creating AI drills for tennis, padel, and pickleball, allowing you to quickly describe drill scenarios, shot patterns, and training parameters by speaking instead of typing. This guide covers setup and usage for both iPhone and Android devices.

iPhone Voice Dictation Setup

To enable voice typing (Dictation) on an iPhone, go to Settings > General > Keyboard and turn on the Enable Dictation toggle. Then, in any app where you can type, tap the microphone icon on the keyboard and start speaking to have your words converted into text.

Step-by-step setup:

  1. Open the Settings app on your iPhone
  2. Scroll down and tap General
  3. Tap Keyboard
  4. Find the Enable Dictation option and toggle it to the “on” position
  5. A prompt may appear; tap Enable Dictation to confirm

Android Voice Dictation Setup

Android devices typically have voice input enabled by default through Google’s voice typing feature. If it’s not working, you may need to enable it in your keyboard settings.

Step-by-step setup for Android:

  1. Open Settings on your Android device
  2. Go to System > Languages & input (or General Management > Language and input on Samsung devices)
  3. Tap Virtual keyboard or On-screen keyboard
  4. Select your keyboard (usually Gboard or Samsung Keyboard)
  5. Tap Voice typing and ensure it’s enabled
  6. If using Gboard, you can also go to Settings > System > Languages & input > Advanced > Google voice typing to adjust voice settings

Alternative method for Gboard:

  1. Open any app with a text field
  2. Tap to bring up the keyboard
  3. Tap and hold the space bar or look for the microphone icon
  4. If prompted, grant microphone permissions

How to Use Voice Typing in Spinfire App for AI Drill Creation

For both iPhone and Android:

  1. Open the Spinfire App
  2. Navigate to the AI drill creation section
  3. Tap on any text field (such as drill description, instructions, or parameters) to bring up the keyboard
  4. Look for and tap the microphone icon on the keyboard
  5. Start speaking clearly to describe your drill. For example:
  • Tennis: “Create a forehand cross-court drill with increasing pace and depth targeting the corners”
  • Padel: “Set up a volley drill at the net focusing on placement and control with glass wall rebounds”
  • Pickleball: “Design a dinking drill for the kitchen area emphasizing patience and placement accuracy”
  1. Your spoken words will appear in the text field as you speak
  2. To stop dictation:
    • Tap the microphone icon again, OR
    • Simply stop speaking for about 30 seconds (the feature will automatically stop)

Benefits for Tennis, Padel, and Pickleball AI Drill Creation

Using voice dictation when creating AI drills offers several advantages:

  • Speed: Quickly articulate complex shot patterns and court positioning without typing
  • Natural language: Describe drills conversationally using sport-specific terminology
  • Detailed descriptions: Easily provide comprehensive drill parameters, shot types, and training objectives
  • Hands-free operation: Useful when you’re on the court or away from your device
  • Sport-specific terms: Voice dictation handles tennis, padel, and pickleball terminology effectively

Troubleshooting Tips

  • Ensure you have granted microphone permissions to your keyboard app
  • Check that you have an internet connection, as voice dictation often requires online processing
  • Speak clearly and at a moderate pace for best results when describing drill details and shot specifications
  • If the microphone icon doesn’t appear, check that voice dictation is properly enabled in your device settings
  • For Android users: If using a third-party keyboard, ensure voice input is enabled in that specific keyboard’s settings

The voice dictation feature works with your device’s default language settings and will transcribe speech in the language your keyboard is set to use, making it easy to create AI drills for tennis, padel, and pickleball in your preferred language.
