Introducing Spinfire Pro 2 (version 2)

We’ve taken the best all-round ball machine and made it even better.

Tennis ball machines are a fantastic way to practice and improve your game, regardless of your skill level. The Spinfire Pro 2 makes it easy to practice a wide range of shots, test yourself with a variety of paces, spins and elevations, and build your mobility and fitness with practice drills.

With a number of improvements over the original version, the Spinfire Pro 2 (v2) offers things you’d normally only find on a much more expensive machine. It includes internal movement, an easy-to-use control panel and remote control, and 150-ball capacity – all wrapped up in an extremely stylish and compact design.

Here’s what makes it even better

Some of the key upgrades include:

Improved ball variations:
  • The ‘Horizontal Oscillation’ function has been replaced with ‘Horizontal Random’, so it randomly selects spots across the court rather than sweeping from side to side
  • The ‘Vertical Oscillation’ function has been replaced with ‘Vertical Random’, so it randomly selects the longest or shortest points rather than sweeping up and down
  • ‘Horizontal Random’ now includes a ‘narrow’ option, rather than just ‘wide’ or ‘medium’
Improved portability and practicality:
  • More compact design with an extra handle at the top of the mouth when the hopper (ball basket) is inverted
  • Larger transport wheels with a full axle through the body for added stability and strength
  • A slot has been added to store the remote control
Improved reliability and durability:
  • All electronic components have been upgraded
  • Streamlined design, including internal cabling & battery brace

Key features and benefits

Internal movement

Unlike most ball machines, which change the direction of the ball by moving the whole machine from side to side, the Spinfire Pro 2 moves internally. This allows for faster re-direction and makes shots less predictable. The internal parts are black to further disguise shot direction.

Random modes

With both horizontal and vertical random modes, balls can be delivered across the full width of the singles court with depth variation. The Spinfire Pro 2 can be set to deliver the same trajectory over and over or a variety of random trajectories. ‘Horizontal Random’ can be set to deliver balls across a narrow, medium or wide area. ‘Vertical Random’ delivers short or long balls in a random order. Both ‘Horizontal Random’ and ‘Vertical Random’ can be combined for a very realistic playing pattern.

Two-line drills

This feature delivers alternating forehands and backhands. It can be set to ‘wide’, ‘medium’ or ‘narrow’ to vary the degree of difficulty. The ‘wide’ setting makes you run from side to side, ‘narrow’ allows you to remain in the middle of the court, while ‘medium’ is between the two. You can also set the timing between each ball.

Extreme topspin and slice capability

Using counter rotating wheels, the Spinfire Pro 2 operates very quietly and can generate maximum topspin and slice if desired.

Remote control

All functions can be controlled remotely, allowing the player to start or pause the machine and change functions without leaving their side of the court.

Easy portability

Compact and lightweight, the Spinfire Pro 2 fits in the trunk of most cars. The hopper (ball basket) can be reversed to neatly cover the machine, and solid wheels and an extendable handle allow you to pull or push it almost anywhere.

Three power options

You can choose to have a built-in or external battery pack, or plug-in AC power option – or any combination of the three. The external battery pack makes the machine much lighter, allowing you to leave it in the car and just bring the battery inside for charging. A fast charger is also available, cutting the charging time from 11 hours to 3–4 hours. If your court has easy access to a power point, you may prefer the plug-in AC power option.

The Spinfire Pro 2 machine is covered by an outstanding 2-year warranty on parts and labour, and the battery has a 6-month warranty.

  1. Cornel W.

Excellent Exciting Easy and Extremely Enjoyable! What an amazing Ball Machine. We have an array of players using it – from beginner through intermediate and very advance – and the Spinfire Pro 2 accommodates and challenges all levels with its vast variety of shots and technological easement. We are beyond impressed.

  2. Jason

This is my second spinfire pro 2 in 2 years, I love it.
It works so well and actually pays for itself by hiring it out, so I’m in a win win situation. Thank you very much. Jason.

We purchased the Spinfire pro 2 in September for our son who is 12 years old, and a national player here in the U.K.
He has used the ball machine pretty much every day for 1 hour since then as part of his training schedule.
The spinfire 2 has been faultless and consistent.
My son has risen through the next age group (14&under) in this time and has climbed over 50 places in the national rankings, he has also just attracted sponsorship from Babolat.
I have no doubt a lot of his success is down to the training he has acquired from this machine.
Thank you for an excellent product.

1)The instructions to initially set up the machine were excellent – clear & concise. By myself it took less than 30 mins from receiving the box to having it fully functional.
    2) I agree with other reviews that commented on the small size of the wheels – it feels a little bit unstable when moving on ground (across a lawn area & then uneven brick pavers) to arrive at the court – this is overcome by being aware of this & just moving slower than you would normally do. Also it always leaves 3 or 4 balls unused in the hopper. Neither of these issues are a “big deal”.
    3) Due to pre existing knee issues I cannot play in competitions but I hope that after a few months of using the Machine I will be able to play social games. Even if this doesn’t eventuate I am out there having a hit after an absence of 5 years or so – pretty **** at the moment but great fun. I have been utilizing the narrow 2 line drill program which has been excellent for warming up before moving to set up the machine for continuous cross court forehands & then backhands.

Note from Spinifre: This review was of our old v1 model. Our new v2 model released on Oct 1st, 2020, has larger transport wheels for unstable ground and an improved hopper/carousel design to clear away all the balls. There are many other improvements in the v2 model.

  5. Isaac

Great machine does everything possible thus not requiring a practice partner. If I were others wanting to purchase the Spinfire 2 machine spend on a fast charger as the external battery drains too quickly thus taking over night to recharge. This was a rookie error at the initial purchase.

  6. Anony

Overall great machine. Feels like I’m playing a real player and it tires me out, which is an excellent thing! The only problems I have is that the machine often shoots the ball too wide out of the ad and service lives and the wheels are not smooth to move for the machine to move around.

Note from Spinfire: This review was of the old v1 model. Our new v2 model has larger transport wheels and many design improvements.

  7. Nick

There are many ball machines on the market, the Spinfire Pro 2 is one of the best!
It is well made, has a good range of features and performs very well.
I agree with the guy above about some of its issues, the pulling wheels are way too small so pulling it over bumpy ground is almost impossible, also another issue is that you can hit balls into the machine as it has a wide opening meaning the machine turns off, it does not happen every time but you can do it.
With bigger wheels and perhaps a rubber cover over the front just to let the balls fire out it would be a perfect machine!
Also introduce a manual panel I prefer these I am not a fan of electronic panels.

Note from SpinfireSport.com – This review was posted of our old v1 machine. The new v2 has larger transport wheels and a smaller mouth opening.

  8. Jason

I’ve just bought a Spinfire pro 2 and took out out last night for my first go, it was fantastic!
I have been playing tennis since I was a kid and have found it difficult to just go and play whenever I want due to good high level practice partners, my machine has now changed that.
I am going on court again tonight and can’t wait, amazing fun!.
Thank you Spinfire for an easy to use machine that does what I need.
I’m not worried by the small things that others complain about as the upside is I get to play at a high level when I want.
It is very usable and so quiet, Loving the remote control and it beeps to show you have changed the setting. If it were to have a screen etc it would be too big to keep in your pocket.
    Fantastic, thank you..

  9. Tony

I got the Spinfire 2 for tennis and cricket practice. It’s varying width and depth gives a great runaround playing tennis and everyone loves playing cricket with the Spinfire sending them down at 130k’s. Remote works great from the opposite end of the court, battery life is hours and it throws balls out very consistently. It is a bit heavy but the handle makes it easy to move it around – just get some help around stairs as it’s not built to be dragged up or down.

Note from Spinfire: This review was of the v1 model. Our new v2 model (launched Oct 1st, 2020) has larger transport wheels, a smaller shape and extra lifting handle to assist with transportation.

  10. Peter

One of the best machine around. It’s has all the features that suit all levels of players. I love the remote control, this is a most in any machine. Only negative thing about this machine is its small wheel. I find it trick going over gravel or uneven surfaces.

Note from Spinfire: This review was of the v1 model. Our new v2 model (launched Oct 1st, 2020) has larger transport wheels for easy movement over difficult terrain.

  11. Vin

I purchased the Spinfire approx 2 years ago, and using it once or twice per week has has AMAZING results on my game, specifically base line rallies with topspin forehand and topspin backhand shots. DO NOT waste your money on coaching until you buy one of these machines, because it allows the absolute best practice in so many ways. I see so many people getting coaching and not be able to apply their teachings in a match because they don’t practice the right way. The Spinfire fixes that problem. WANNA PLAY BETTER TENNIS – GET A SPINFIRE!

  12. Henry

Really good machine for getting into a good groove. Machine can generate impressive topspin and provides good variety of ball positions including lobs for overhead training. Definitely recommend, particularly to a strong intermediate or someone getting back into training after a spell away from the game.

  13. Guy

I purchase the SP2 in October12. I am an intermediate player, but the kids use it too. The machine has worked very well so far with spinfire juice balls. I haven’t had any problems with jamming, but I have had 2 or even 3 balls coming out at once a few times. The frequency of this seems to be reducing. A bit of fluff does start to build up in the machine a little. Only other issue has been that often the last 3-4 balls don’t make it into the feeder. The design of this could be improved slightly. I like the two line function which allows forehand/backhand alternating with the vertical oscillation to change depth. I have also setup the machine for my son to practice his cricket batting. Put it on low trajectory with heaps of top spin and full speed and it’s great. I’d like someone to come out with a stand so that we could elevate the machine for practice receiving tennis serves.

Note from Spinfire: This review was of the old v1 model. The new v2 model has resolved some of the issues he has described.

  14. Kurt

This machine is better than the Lobster, which I have used before and has broken several times. One thing the Manual does not mention: with very new balls, the machine jams and you can only load half bucket. Once the fluff has gone from the new balls, all good

Note from Spinifre: This review was of the old v1 model. Our v2 model has improved the feeding mechanism to reduce jams.

  15. Scott

Received the product and ripped it out of the box to fire up. We spent probably 30mins giggling whilst learning to use it. My kids (5 & 3) loved it. I look forward to having many years of fun with it. PS. The kids have nicknamed him Barney the Ball Machine

  16. DANIEL

The machine is very handy and with many possibilities for all tennis levels. You can adjust it just as you want. Great fun training with my young daughter.
The only thing I miss is a memory where you can save your favourite adjustments

  17. Angus

it is a very good hitting partner if you have not got any one to hit with. also very good for working on one shot as you can fire a hole basket at that shot

  18. Luke

  19. Caspier

This machine ticks all the boxes, ground stokes, lobs, top spin and drills. It can take an average player and make them better. Using the drill function can also improve fitness as you run continuously left and right you soon work up a sweat then you learn if you can hit a winning shot when your very tired well worth the money if you can spare it

  20. Guy

I previously reviewed this machine (4 from the top). Machine has been good and has worked well. However, I’ve just gone back to use it again after a few months and the battery won’t charge. It had just been sitting in the garage not plugged in. seems the battery has died lost charge and died. Bit of a shame, but hopefully I’ll be able to replace the battery ok.

    Service was outstanding, thanks guys!

  26. Paul

Fantastic machine. Reliable, great variety, and impressive spin imparted to the ball. Gives a great workout. Very good value when compared to other similar spec ball machines.

  27. Recent buyer

I bought Spinfire pro 2 recently. This machine is compact and highly versatile. It remembers my last setting and throws consistent balls. The remote is small and has a good range. So far I have managed to get 4 hours from the battery with not too basic and not too advanced (random) settings. I strongly advise to go for external battery to make charging easy.
After few weeks of use I can already see an improvement in my backhand, something which I targeted.

  28. Misty

Does everything I was hoping to find in a ball machine. Highly recommend.
I got the whole family eager to play tennis once again

  29. Alvina

I can’t rave enough about the Spinfire Pro 2. My game has lifted over night, the work out component alone has me hooked. I’m on the court every chance i get. Wheres Mum? She bought a ball machine!

  32. Has all the features promised

Just had my first serious session with the Pro 2. Set up was easier than expected and can see it will help me strengthen all my groundstrokes

  36. Anonymous

A fantastic machine which is easy for all ages to operate.

  37. Daniel

This ball machine is well worth paying a little extra to get up from the base model. The remote control that comes with this model is a great feature, especially when you’re at the opposite end coaching somebody not having to run back & forth to change settings, speed, elevation or even simply stop it while explaining things. It was simple to set up & so easy to work out how to change settings and do what I needed it to do even for somebody like myself who isn’t very tech savvy. I had my doubts before as to whether it could actually simulate game play but not after using it.
Yes it’s a pricey piece of equipment but if you think you would be able to use it somewhat regularly, I would recommend this machine to anyone in that situation & after I tried for a few months to buy a descent one second hand, I came to the conclusion that people were asking nearly as much as I got a new one for unless it was old or had done a lot of work.

  38. Lec G.

    Great machine
    Great experience
    Thank you very much.

  39. Jenny Ramsay

  40. Daniel

Very good training machine. Expensive but I don’t regret the purchase.

  41. Peter Liu

Great design, lots of drill functions, better than the direct competitor product

  42. Anonymous

  43. Julian Swinstead

I have had a total knee replacement and won’t be using the machine for a couple of months.

  44. Mike

Perfect and good practice for baseline hit.
Can anyone pls advise what’s the best set up for net/volley practice?

  45. Guy

I bought a spinfire 2 pro back in 2012. Happy to say the machine is still going and has been great. I am not a regular player though, so it gets used in fits and starts.
It has needing some spare parts. First, the adapter died. I converted with an adapter kit to AC power (I had an early model that had a slow charger and no AC). Converting to AC has worked well, as I have power near by to the court. It used to be really annoying to have the battery go flat and it took a day to charge. Now I am replacing the wheels that shoot out the balls. These wear out eventually. So the machine is not cheap to buy, and spare parts will be needed, but really it has been a good run given it’s age. Still recommend it if it will get used.

  46. Julian Swinstead

I bought this machine a week after a total knee replacement knowing that I would not get to use it for a while. Then Covid19 messed up our club play (all over 70 years). So I took the Spinfire to a back court with two mates. Setting the machine on WIDE each mate got alternating practice. Using the ball pickup devices no-one but i touched the balls. The practising mates stayed four metres apart and I sat next to the machine at the other end learning how to use it. It has been sensational and safe. All get a turn and love it. I am looking forward to my turn using it.

  47. Anonymous

Easy to move around and very easy to operate. We use it 3-4 times a week at home.

  48. Anonymous

Still getting my head around it with its settings, but its a beautiful machine

  49. Anonymous

It suits the whole family from an 8 year old to my wife to myself.
    Can’t wait for another hit.

  50. Carolyn Waddington

Great service and advice on purchase and the machine came so quickly. It is the perfect machine for our whole family. It is so easy to use, The remote has excellent range and the drills are fantastic. The machine suits from a beginner through to an advanced player due to the high range of settings. I am so happy that we bought this and would recommend this machine to anyone who is looking to improve their game and fitness. I would recommend that you purchase the starter set with the balls, tube to pick up the balls and the ball holder.
